English FA Cup Fifth Round predictions, fixtures and results: 26 – 28 February 2024

It’s time for the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, as the famous old knockout competition takes over English football between Monday and Wednesday.

The 16 remaining clubs will be whittled down to the last eight, as the season heads towards its sharp end and the final showpiece under the Wembley Stadium arch.

Chelsea and Leeds kick off Wednesday night’s action in a repeat of the 1970 Cup final.

Stamford Bridge is the venue as Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues go up against the West Yorkshire side pushing hard for an instant return to the Premier League.

Liverpool last lifted the famous trophy in 2022 and continue their bid to give coach Jurgen Klopp a dream send-off with a home tie against Southampton.

The Reds go into the Anfield clash heavy favourites but will need to be on their guard against a Saints team in excellent Championship form.

Manchester United have lost their last two FA Cup finals but are again on the charge to put that right.

Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils are on the road as they tackle EPL strugglers Nottingham Forest, who last reached the final in 1991 with Brian Clough at the helm.

Wolves and Brighton complete the Wednesday night line up when they contest another all-Premier League tie.

Tuesday sees another trio of fixtures, headlined by the visit of reigning champions Manchester City to Luton.

Pep Guardiola is targeting a third Cup success in his time as City coach, while the Hatters are out to cause an upset as a welcome relief from their EPL struggles.

This competition is the best bet for Newcastle to end their long wait for a trophy.

They go to Ewood Park to face former Premier League winners Blackburn, who recently parted company with coach and former Toon Army striker Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Bournemouth and Leicester are also competing for a place in the quarter-finals, as they go head-to-head on the south coast.

The Vitality Stadium plays host as the runaway Championship leaders attempt to recreate the glory of their 2021 final success over Chelsea.

Fairytale club Maidstone kick off Round Five when they take centre stage on Monday night with an away trip to Coventry.

It’s not quite the glamour tie the National League South Stones were dreaming of, but inspirational coach Geroge Elokobi will have his side all set to keep the fire burning at the Championship club.
