It’s all about the total solar eclipse in this mini version of High and Low. I’m Kim McDonald, along with meteorologist Kevin McKay. Kevin, you ready to play? Let’s play. OK, I make a statement and Kevin lets me know what his confidence is. A lot of people talking about this. The total solar eclipse happening on April the 8th. It will be in the path of about 31 million people and people are getting pretty excited about it. But one of the variables with watching this will be the weather and. The sky cover. So here’s the statement. Eastern Canada will see clear skies. Or the Eclipse Kevin. Well, that time of year, early April, April showers, that’s what everyone thinks of. You need the clouds. But we also get those beautiful early spring days. Now if we were further down the track, maybe into Texas and Arkansas, we’d have a much better shot. But the odds certainly aren’t in our favor this far north. But as the eclipse draws closer, our models are going to get a little better over the coming days, Kim, so there is still some hope. OK, so keep checking back with us. But as it stands, Eastern Canada will see clear skies for the eclipse. It’s a bold statement, Kevin. What’s your confidence? At this point I’m thinking it’s still pretty low, but it’s not a write off is it? No, not at all. You’ll still get that complete darkness if you’re in the path of totality, no matter what the sky conditions. OK, great. Stay with us at The Weather Network For more information.
