In a letter to Conservative MPs seen by The Telegraph on Thursday, levelling up minister Jacob Young laid out a series of amendments to the incoming Renters Reform Bill. This included a commitment for the Lord Chancellor to review the “readiness” of the courts before no-fault evictions can be banned.

At a sentencing hearing in New York, Judge Lewis Kaplan told the 32-year-old: “The punishment must fit the seriousness of the crime.” Bankman-Fried had faced a possible sentence of up to 100 years in prison, but US prosecutors had called for between 40 and 50 years.
