Metro Manila and seven other provinces are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainshowers on Friday afternoon.
According to PAGASA’s thunderstorm advisory, issued at 3:07 p.m., downpours with lightning and strong winds might be seen over the National Capital Region, Bataan, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Nueva Ecijia, Pampanga, and Tarlac within the next two hours.
PAGASA also said the same weather conditions are being experienced in in Zambales (San Marcelino, Castillejos), Batangas (Tanauan, Santo Tomas), Laguna (Calamba, Bay, Alaminos, Calauan) and Quezon (Tagkawayan, Calauag, Guinayangan, Gumaca, Pitogo, Unisan), and may persist in the next two hours.
Residents in these areas were warned against possible flash floods and landslides.
The recent afternoon rains persist amid the extreme heat that has been scorching the country for months brought by the El Nino phenomenon.
But PAGASA forecasts that the La Niña phenomenon may begin between June and August. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
