‘Thug Life’ overseas rights sold for a whopping amount after Simbu joins the cast
The upcoming Tamil film ‘Thug Life’, directed by Mani Ratnam is an epic period action drama and the film stars Kamal Haasan in the lead role. The film’s teaser was launched last year and it has a huge anticipation. The movie marks the second collaboration of Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after 35 years of ‘Nayakan’.
The movie was initially reported to have its digital rights sold overseas for Rs 45 crore, but the recent inclusion to the cast has made the film’s value higher. According to the reports of Glitz, after actor Simbu officially joined the cast of ‘Thug Life’ the film’s overseas rights has been sold for a whopping amount of Rs 60 crore. The amount has set a new record for Kollywood overseas.
The film has an ensemble cast of Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Simbu, Joju George, Nassar, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Gautham Karthik in lead roles. Earlier Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi were part of the movie’s cast but later Simbu replaced Dulquer’s role in the film and the buzz is that actor Ashok Selvan might be replacing Jayam Ravi for his role. It was also reported that Arvind Swamy will play a pivotal role in the film, however the makers are yet to make the official announcement. The film’s music is composed by AR Rahman and the film is set to be released in theatres next year.
