Thomas Tuchel believes Bayern Munich have a ‘slight advantage’ over Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League quarter final.

Wednesday night’s second leg at the Allianz Arena is finely poised following a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium last week.

Arsenal head into the return fixture in Munich following a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa on Sunday which dented their Premier League title chances.

Bayern, meanwhile, sealed a 2-0 win over Koln on Saturday but will be fighting for second place in the Bundesliga after Bayer Leverkusen were crowned champions on Sunday.

The Champions League represents the final chance for Tuchel to win a trophy before he leaves Bayern at the end of the season and he believes his side’s experience in the competition could be a decisive factor against Mikel Arteta’s men.

‘We have a slight advantage when you look at our experience in this competition,’ Tuchel said.

‘But to turn it into a real advantage, you also need a top performance. We’re ready to give it everything we’ve go.

‘We’ll need everything again. We’ll need passion and the same tactical discipline as in the first leg. We really want to win this game. It’ll be extremely important that every fan comes to support and push us.

‘They play a very attractive brand of football at the highest level. We did well in the first leg, but we’re only halfway through the tie. We need everything again and hope that playing at home will give us the boost we need.’

Tuchel also believes Arsenal’s lack of recent experience in the competition in recent years could help Arteta’s players.

‘It can also sometimes be an advantage to not have the experience, to just have the role of a contender, the role of a hunter,’ said the former Chelsea manager.

‘That can also be a theme for Arsenal, to go for it, to be the guys who finally do it after so many years.’
