The Star casino faces unsubstantiated claims of a ‘toxic’ culture

The Star is bracing for a hearing that could determine whether it “hangs onto” its New South Wales Casino licence, says Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.

“Yesterday we told you that The Star’s regulator-appointed manager – Nicholas Weeks – believed his diary was being spied upon and that senior management at The Star and its board wrote emails saying they were at war with him,” Mr Greenwood said.

The Star casino faces unsubstantiated claims of a ‘toxic’ culture

“Weeks recommended to the Casino Commissioner – Philip Crawford – that The Star is not capable of changing its culture and practices sufficiently to enable it to hold onto its licence.

“Today, the inquiry heard an anonymous whistle-blower from inside The Star come forward with unsubstantiated claims that the casino’s culture is toxic.”

Star Entertainment shares today were down another 11 per cent after a big fall yesterday – close to an all-time low.
