The Ministry of Awqaf Lists 189 Mosques in Qatar for I'tikaf

Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs recently shared a list of mosques where Muslims can observe I’tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan.

I’tikaf is an Islamic practice observed by Muslims during the last ten days of Ramadan, which involves Muslims staying in a mosque and focusing on worship and staying away from world matters.

The list designates 189 mosques across Qatar for I’tikaf, therefore if worshippers want to observe I’tikaf, they can probably do it from a nearby mosque.

Worshippers are urged to observe I’tikaf in the listed mosques only because these are the only mosques equipped with amenities for worshippers observing  I’tikaf.

There are other conditions for I’tikaf observers which include that worshippers should not be less than 18 years old and if they are, they should be escorted by their guardians.

The ministry has also directed worshippers to maintain personal hygiene during i’tikaf and to maintain the cleanliness of I’tikaf spaces in these mosques.

Worshippers observing I’tikaf are also instructed to avoid making noise in mosques to reduce the disruption in other people’s worship.

I’tikaf observers are also requested to avoid hanging their clothes on walls, columns, or any other mosque furniture.

The ministry has also urged worshippers to avoid sleeping and eating in areas of the mosque that are not designated for that.

Women are prohibited from observing I’tikaf in mosques, according to the ministry’s guidelines.

If you want to observe I’tikaf in Qatar this Ramadan, make sure you adhere to the ministry’s guidelines!
