The Lost Boys star Jason Patric’s brother has been struck and killed by a bus while crossing a street in New Jersey, it was reported on Friday.

Joshua John Miller, who is a year younger than his famous half-brother, was walking across the street in Fort Lee on Wednesday afternoon when the incident took place, according to TMZ.

Law enforcement sources told the publication that Miller was struck by a New Jersey Transit bus as it was making a left turn, according to a preliminary police account.

Miller was then rushed to a hospital in serious condition, but was later pronounced dead. He was 56.

DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Patric, 57, who have declined to comment.

Miller worked as a customer service representative at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan.

The incident is now under investigation by the Fort Lee Police Department.

As part of that investigation, detectives will attempt to determine if Miller’s death was the result of a crime or merely a tragic accident.

‘Yesterday, I received an unexpected early morning phone call. It was from the Chief Security Officer of the Port Authority advising me of the death of a Port Authority employee,’ said Kevin J. O’Toole, chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, wrote in the New Jersey Globe on Thursday.

‘When I heard the deceased man’s name, Jordan Miller, it stopped me. I knew him. I had met Jordan over a dozen years ago, and he had left a lasting impression.’

O’Toole shared that Miller had begun working at the Port Authority beginning in 2011.

He noted that Miller was ‘also an avid runner who completed the New York City Marathon for 13 consecutive years, which says something about his focus and commitment to a goal.’

O’Toole added that Miller was ‘loved by his co-workers, who describe him as a “man of routine,”‘ and he said that the he ‘will be missed’ by his colleagues.

Patric’s half-brother Miller had worked at the Port Authority since 2011

Patric, born John Anthony Miller III, is a well-known Hollywood actor famous for his roles in The Lost Boys, Rush, Sleepers, Geronimo: An American Legend, Your Friends & Neighbors, Narc, The Losers and The Alamo.

He also famously played the male lead in Speed 2: Cruise Control alongside Sandra Bullock.

Patric’s father was actor and playwright Jason Miller — best known for starring in The Exorcist as the younger priest — and his maternal grandfather was the legendary actor and comedian Jackie Gleason.

A Port Authority representative confirmed to TMZ that Patric was friendly with some of the employees at his brother’s agency.
