PJ cops to call up father of drowned boy
PETALING JAYA: The father of the boy who was found drowned in a recreational lake in Sea Park will be called up to assist investigations.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Ja’afar@Ismail (pic) said the victim’s father will be called up soon to record his statement.
“So far we have recorded the statements of two witnesses, including the individual who found the victim.
“There is no criminal element discovered but we are investigating all aspects,” he told a press conference at the PJ police headquarters on Thursday (Feb 29).
It was reported that police received a report about the victim’s disappearance, who is also a person with disability (PWD) cardholder with autism, at about 6.30pm Tuesday.
ACP Shahrulnizam had said the victim went missing while playing with his twin, as their father fell asleep watching them.
He said the victim’s body was found floating about 4m from the lakeside at 6.50pm by members of the public.
The post-mortem revealed no signs of injury or abuse on the body of the five-year-old victim.
The doctor determined the cause of death as drowning and the case has been classified as sudden death.
The investigation will continue under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect and negligence by the guardian.
