Terry Fox's marathon of hope celebrates its 44th year

You all know I lost my leg of cancer three years ago and I Murray across Canada and one of the try and raise too much money for dancers. I can and to try and be an example to other people and to do my best I can. It’s the 44th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, a run across Canada to raise money for Cancer Research. I just hope that it they’re all giving to the current study and they all realize that I don’t consider myself any different and that they all can do what I’m doing if they wanted. He ran 5300 kilometers over 143 days. Before his cancer returned, forcing him to stop running on September 1st, 1980 still feels like yesterday. Why? Because. Though Terry’s not here, he’s everywhere. And you know to to be to see that legacy so vibrant, 44 years removed from the Marathon of Hope is very exciting and we’re very proud as a family for that. Registration for the September 15th run opens today. Nearly 600 communities across the country will take part in the Saint. Terry was out there to his average in every way, a determination. He always tried his very best and look what he accomplished through hard work and determination. I think that’s why the story resonates so powerfully so many years later is because everyone could be Terry Fox. Terry died on June 28th, 1981. Donations helped to carry on Terry’s dream of funding innovative research across Canada to enhance diagnosis, treatment options and the quality of life for those battling cancer. Everyone came out and gave a dollar and we raised $5000 just running down the road in eight miles. So it was really, really great. All you have to do is give a dollar or two. Favorite Canadian, give a dollar. With the Reds 25,000,000. For a run or make a donation, you can go to terryfox.org in Toronto. Audrey Brown City News.
