Ten Hag rues managing Man Utd's 'worst defeat' but vows to fight on

It’s as you say very disappointing in the performing definitely burst defeat you should have done better. So yeah there were many things there was a team performance who was not correct and making big mistakes not following say the plan in the script and the rules. We have of course also individual mistakes, but then we should cover each other and we didn’t do we let each other down and and then you get worse defeat individually. Does that come down to sort of individual performances as well? Sometimes I realize you’re not going to identify individuals, but some of the performance is clearly not up to the standards that they would look. Absolutely not. That’s the truth. But also we know plays, not all the players are positioning in say in their favorite positions because we have used problems. But then we have to help out each other. You mentioned it’s your things depleted the the season. You say it’s your low points for the season 2. What’s been quite a hard season 2. Yes, it was very poor. How we give the goals away, especially when we prepare team and then conceding of the first goal, that is very disappointing. How? How easy? How easy? Giveaways and that shouldn’t happen and especially not in the circumstances we are in because we have problems. But then you have to, you have to help each other out in spite of the injuries you’ve had huge. But was that performance and a result you saw coming at all? Is that out of the blue? Basically Actually yes, because this is the 4th defeat in 2024 and so far and you have always seen a team I was playing following the script. That’s why we, which we didn’t, had a lot of wins. It was hard to beat and today we were easy to beat. So if you look at that phone starts quite confident that all the players are playing today that they’re all doing as well as possible. Yes, I’m I’m I’m sure that they had the right intention and to come on and they and they were eager from the start. But once we were playing and we we didn’t perform, individuals didn’t perform and as a team we didn’t perform. Was Johnny Emesis lucky, Dennis? Did that compromise your plans before the game even started? Basically he wasn’t. He weren’t going to start. Harry was there? No, definitely not. And so a huge respect for Johnny that he stepped in but he wasn’t ready to go into this game and he only had two days training and so that is one example. But he he played for 90 minutes and yeah, and what is really say, a reward that he did this. But of course he can’t play through levels. What he can normally do after the result against you said at Manchester that you have belief of the remaining games in like teams like Manchester City. At a time like this, where is your belief coming from? The things we improve because as I said we had only four defeats so far and and we had all season big problems and especially the last week we had big problems in the back line. But all the time there was a team with a fighting spirit and there was a team was hard to beat and as I said today we were easy to beat. Is there something that you will see behind the scenes that you’d like times to see more than the 2? So you have seen the fans and they they’re begging us and they’re from minute one to the end behind the team. And so I guess they see the problems we have and I really, I really have been pleased with their support and the team is really pleased with it and we should have taken their fighting spirit into the pitch. Last question, Eric, you said about the players fighting like the fans not being able to follow clear instructions. How worrying is it for you when a professional? I did, I didn’t say instructions, I said the script and I said following the rules. I didn’t say the instructions. But you said in other interviews about following clear instructions on the first well there was a script and and they they should follow that and they didn’t do. How well is that in terms of professionalism and standards? So professionals should allow this and because it was such a easy giveaway goal, I have 5 players over the ball and then they have a throw in. And it’s not the first time this season this happens.
