Taxi travelled with rear door open Motorists believe passenger at fault too READ MORE: Melbourne Sikh taxi driver praised after returning $8k
A taxi driver’s dangerous solution to accommodate a passenger with a bicycle, has left motorists in disbelief.
A photo posted online showed the cab entering the outside lane of a roundabout in Kensington, in Sydney’s inner city, with the door open and the bike protruding from the left backseat.
The image, shared to Dash Cam Owners Australia’s facebook page on Saturday, was captioned: ‘Near enough is good enough.’
A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia Eastern Beaches police are aware of the photo and conducting inquiries into the incident which is punishable with a hefty fine.

‘The licence plate was visible so they should be able to find the driver and talk to them,’ police said.
Comments on the post agreed it was unacceptable behaviour by both the driver and passenger.
‘Omg. Just take off front and rear wheel and it will fit in like a glove,’ one wrote.
‘What were they thinking?, another said.
‘I can’t believe what I’m looking at. What some people actually think is OK!’ one said.
Australian Cycling Alliance president Edward Hore told Yahoo the passengers might have been a cyclist who broke down, and that they should be ashamed.
‘I was furious when I saw that photo. They’re literally putting a car door into the bike lane – and it looks like it’s by a cyclist. It’s madness,’ he said, adding that the cyclist either didn’t know how to remove the bike wheel or didn’t have tools.

‘He should have booked a taxi van, there were so many better solutions for them. Their cycling mates need to let them know this is not acceptable.’
Mr Hore the cyclist is as much to blame as the driver and that they both need a refresher on safe-driving.
In NSW it is an offence to cause a hazard to a person or vehicle by having a door open and can attract a $349 fine.
Drivers with an unsecured and overhanging load can also face a fine of $464 and three demerit points.
