Tanzania officials strengthen governance skills with India
New Delhi: The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) has commenced a two-week capacity-building programme on project and risk management for public works for 39 officials from various departments of the government of Tanzania, a PIB press release stated.
The programme, which is a collaboration between the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the NCGG, aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants in project and risk management with the aim of strengthening the public sector’s capacity to deliver good governance and sustainable development in Tanzania.
The selected officials, from across the country including the National Roads Agency, Ministry of Energy, Planning Commission, Tanzania Building Agency, Tanzania Railway Corporation, Housing investments, Rapid Transit Agency, and the President’s Office, will participate in the programme, which will take place in Mussoorie, Tanzania from 6 May to 17 May 2024. The programme will focus on a range of topics, including project selection and formulation, project management framework and processes, project risk management, and PPP in infrastructure projects, among others.
The selected participants will also have the opportunity to visit key project sites such as Dakpathar Hydropower and Irrigation Dam, NHAI in Uttarakhand, Dwarka Expressway in New Delhi, Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, World Trade Centre NBCC in New Delhi, and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. The programme will conclude with a visit to the iconic Taj Mahal.
The NCGG has selected the 39 participants, drawn from various departments of the government of Tanzania, with a focus on officials from the National Roads Agency, Ministry of Energy, Planning Commission, Tanzania Building Agency, Tanzania Railway Corporation, Housing investments, Rapid Transit Agency, and the President’s Office Public Service Management and Good Governance. The programme is being implemented by Dr. B.S Bisht, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator at the NCGG.
