govt officer linked to sexual harassment allegations has police statement recorded

PUTRAJAYA: The senior government agency officer being probed in connection with sexual harassment allegations managed to give members of the media the slip when he went to have his statement recorded.

It is learnt that the officer, who is a director general of a government agency, entered the grounds of the Putrajaya police headquarters at around 2pm on Thursday (Nov 23) accompanied by his lawyer.

He left the compound at around 4.30pm without speaking to members of the media waiting outside.

Officers from Bukit Aman CID’s Special Investigations Unit recorded his statement.

It was reported that Bukit Aman had begun investigating a sexual harassment allegation against the head of a government agency.

It is learnt that a financial consultant in her 30s lodged a police report last week and had alleged that the suspect had been harassing her via WhatsApp.

The woman initially approached the suspect over a prospective investment opportunity in November last year before the harassment allegedly occurred.

She also claimed that the suspect had asked her to go to hotels and karaoke centres a few times but she turned him down.

The complainant also alleged that the suspect’s advances had become bolder since August when he sent her several indecent photos via a text message.

A photo of the police report supposedly lodged by the woman has gone viral on social media.
