Singapore's Gardens by the Bay Launches an Aurora Borealis Installation

Check out the new “Borealis” Northern lights installation at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore:
Gardens by the Bay’s Borealis is a new immersive light and sound installation that can be found at the Supertree Grove starting May 5. As you already know, this iconic spot has those photogenic 50-meter-high “Supertrees” that light up at night. With the Borealis installation, it adds the visual touch of the mesmerizing Northern lights in the night sky.

The Borealis installation is created by Dan Acher, a Switzerland-based artist. This outdoor installation combines light and cloud particles, to create the illusion of the majestic aurora borealis of Iceland and other areas in the Arctic, but at the night skies of the Supertree Grove.

According to Gardens by the Bay, the lights will be accompanied by an “atmospheric soundtrack” by Guillaume Desbois, a French composer. It will be a fully immersive experience as the lights and sound are triggered by changes in wind, humidity, and temperature. Hopefully, the temperature will somewhat give an Arctic feel because it’s no secret how hot and humid it can get in Singapore.
Not your first time seeing the Borealis? The installation has stopped in other countries too—to be specific, it has traveled to more than 40 cities across Europe, Australia, Asia, and the United States. The Borealis installation at Gardens by the Bay will be the first time in Singapore.

How much is it to see the Borealis at Gardens by the Bay?
According to Gardens by the Bay, the Borealis is free, but admission charges to Supertree Grove may apply for ticketed events such, e.g. Christmas Wonderland, which happens during the Christmas season.
The schedule of Borealis at Gardens by the Bay happens thrice a week and lasts 30 minutes. On Mondays, it’s 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., while every Saturday and Sunday, it starts 9 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
There will be a preview of Borealis on May 4, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. The artist, Dan Acher, will be present during the preview to share his inspirations behind Borealis. There will also be free sweets available from 6:30 p.m. onwards (available until supplies last).
