Sime Darby Plantation plans to change name to SD Guthrie
KUALA LUMPUR (April 30): Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, the world’s largest palm oil producer by acreage, said on Tuesday that it plans to change its name to SD Guthrie Bhd.
The company will seek shareholders’ approval for the new name at an extraordinary general meeting on an unspecified date, Sime Darby Plantation said in a statement. Necessary legal and regulatory approvals for the rebranding will be obtained, it noted.
“The decision to rebrand was made after several months of discussions with experts in the fields of law, intellectual property and brand identity,” the company said.
