bali.jpnn.com, QATAR – Timnas U23 Indonesia mencetak sejarah di Piala Asia U23 2024 Qatar.

Debut perdana di kompetisi kelompok umur U23, Timnas U23 Indonesia berhasil melaju ke babak perempat final setelah meraih dua kemenangan kontra Australia dan Yordania.

Kemenangan terakhir diperoleh skuad Garuda Muda pada laga terakhir babak penyisihan Grup A kontra Timnas U23 Yordania dengan skor 4 – 1 di Stadion Abdullah bin Khalifa, Doha, Qatar, Minggu (21/4) malam.

Timnas U23 Indonesia hanya sekali kalah pada laga perdana kontra tuan rumah Qatar dengan skor 0 – 2.

“Kami akhirnya mencetak sejarah, saya sangat senang,” ujar Shin Tae yong dilansir dari laman PSSI.

Oleh karena itu, STY, sapaan akrabnya, ingin berbagi kemenangan ini tidak hanya kepada pemain, tetapi juga PSSI dan seluruh suporter Indonesia.

Menurut STY, membutuhkan waktu yang lama untuk memoles skuad Garuda seperti sekuat sekarang.

Juru taktik asal Korea Selatan ini mengaku bekerja keras sejak dirinya ditunjuk sebagai pelatih empat tahun silam.

Empat tahun itu pun tidak sepenuhnya dirinya melatih Timnas Indonesia, karena kendala Pandemi Covid-19 yang terjadi pada 2020-2021 silam.

“Butuh waktu empat tahun untuk membentuk tim.

Dalam empat tahun itu, dua tahun saya tidak bisa tampil karena ada Corona.

Jadi, setelah dua tahun kami bekerja keras dan hasilnya bisa mengalami kemajuan sejauh ini,” kata Shin Tae yong.

Dengan kemenangan ini, Timnas U23 Indonesia melaju ke perempat final atau delapan besar Piala Asia U23 2024 sebagai runner-up Grup A mendampingi tuan rumah Qatar.

Timnas U23 Indonesia tinggal menunggu calon lawan antara Korea Selatan atau Jepang yang baru bertanding Senin (22/4) malam ini. (lia/JPNN)
