Shashi Tharoor, filed his nomination papers for Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat in 2024 general elections and disclosed an investment of Rs 1.72 crore in mutual funds.Â
Tharoor revealed assets valued at more than Rs 55 crore and a total income exceeding Rs 4.32 crore for the financial year 2022-2023.
He disclosed movable assets worth over Rs 49 crore, comprising deposits in 19 bank accounts and investments in bonds, debentures, mutual funds, and other holdings, as stated in his affidavit.
Tharoor’s investment is spread across 23 mutual funds as of March 2024.
He has holdings in various schemes of Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund, HDFC Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Axis Mutual Fund, Mirae Asset Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, UTI Mutual Fund, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Kotak Mutual Fund, and Quant Mutual Fund.
Among his investments, Tharoor holds five schemes under Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund.
The market value of these investments ranges from Rs 3.72 lakh in Franklin India Feeder – Franklin U.S. Opportunities Fund to Rs 14.01 lakh in Franklin India Focused Equity Fund.
In HDFC Mutual Fund, Tharoor has invested in three schemes, with the largest being in HDFC Credit Risk Debt Fund at Rs 15.78 lakh.
His holdings in ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund include investments in ICICI Prudential Multicap Fund, ICICI Prudential Balanced Advantage Fund, and ICICI Pru Pharma Healthcare & Diagnostics (P.H.D) Fund, collectively valued at around Rs 14 lakh, Rs 13.41 lakh, and Rs 11.28 lakh, respectively.
Tharoor’s investments also include Axis ELSS Tax Saver Fund valued at Rs 11.70 lakh, Mirae Asset ELSS Tax Saver Fund at Rs 1.95 lakh, and Mirae Asset Large & Mid Cap Fund at Rs 11.32 lakh.
Furthermore, he holds SBI Balanced Advantage Fund valued at Rs 7.55 lakh and SBI Multicap Fund at Rs 1.32 lakh.
Tharoor’s international exposure includes investments in Edelweiss MSCI India Domestic & World Health Care 45 Index Fund and Edelweiss US Technology Equity FoF, valued at Rs 4.55 lakh.
Additionally, Tharoor’s portfolio comprises investments in UTI Nifty Next 50 Index at Rs 11.45 lakh, Kotak Flexi Cap Fund at Rs 10.36 lakh, and Quant ELSS Tax Saver Fund at Rs 1.47 lakh.
