SHAH ALAM – The agreement by the unity government to consider allocating funds to opposition representatives proves that all the allegations thrown at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are untrue.

Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzan said the practice of allocating funds to the opposition has been in place since 2008, when Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) first came to power in Selangor after winning the General Election (GE) at the time.

He said before that, opposition parties were not given allocations, but since 2008, that has changed, showing that the promises made by the Prime Minister have been fulfilled.

“So today it is proven that all the allegations thrown at the government are untrue. Give the Prime Minister a chance until the end of his term and at the same time, the opposition should play their role as the check and balance.

“These allocations can be distributed in their respective areas. We believe that the allocations should be given to the people and returned to them and not used for other things, such as buying cars, because there have been cases where federal governments allocated budgets for states to buy cars for exco members at the time,” he told Sinar.

Meanwhile, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman said it was a good initiative by the government.

“Of course, there must be a Memorandum of Understanding by both parties for the sake of the people.

“I hope that there will be no more political movements trying to undermine the unity government’s legitimacy. Now is the time to work, not to make moves here and there,” she said.
