Seahawks Sign NT Buddha Jones After Strong Rookie Tryout

The Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of nose tackle Buddha Jones on Sunday.
Jones, a 6-foot-1 and 307-pound defensive lineman from Troy University, impressed Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald and his staff enough during a rookie tryout on Friday and Saturday to earn a contract.
A two-year starter at Troy the past two seasons, Jones grew into his own playing both defensive tackle and nose tackle for the Trojans recording 57 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3 fumble recoveries, 2 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble.
According to Pro Football Focus, Jones finished the 2023 season tied for 9th best in run defense among Group of Five defenders with University of Houston defensive lineman Jamaree Caldwell boasting an 82.0 grade, despite playing three more games than Caldwell.
With the addition of Jones the Seahawks now have 90 players on the roster. Since the team is also carrying Italian tackle Max Pircher as part of the International Player Pathway program Seattle is allowed to have 91 players on the roster.
