Former prime minister Scott Morrison has revealed he faced mental health challenges during his time in the top job.
The 55-year-old told NewsCorp he suffered from ‘debilitating and agonising’ anxiety during much of his time in The Lodge.
He described eventually seeking help and was prescribed medication.
He said the pandemic and China’s restriction on national imports during this time caused his anxiety to worsen, saying: “It just sort of built up. I couldn’t put my finger on a particular time”.

He added that it was “a very stressful period”.
“The stuff around China was as, if not more, distressing than the pandemic.”
Mr Morrison believes without the help of medication he would have fallen into a serious depression.
