Scientists to make healthier white bread
Have you ever heard people say that eating white bread is bad for you? Well, a team of scientists are hoping to change that. But how do you get from this to this? While researchers at Aberystwyth Uni are looking at how they can boost the nutritional value of white bread. So that could mean mixing UK sauce, peas, beans and oats with wheat flour to make it healthier. My children like white bread, so if I could improve the nutrition of that white bread for my children, I think that would be a really good, a really good thing. NHS says that people should look for high fiber alternatives to white bread, but this could be the answer consumers are looking for. We’re we’re aiming to improve the quality of that standard bog, standard white sliced bread. So we’re trying to improve the nutrition but retain those characteristics that people want, but make sure it’s affordable and accessible to all. And after the two year project is over, scientists are hoping it’s healthier white loaves will be hitting UK shelves and landing on our plates.
