APR FC extended their lead at the top of the Primus National League table following Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Mukura VS at Huye Stadium. The win saw APR open a to seven-point lead ahead of second-placed Rayon Sports who lost 1-0 to Musanze FC on Friday. Sharaf Eldin Shaiboub shot the army side ahead with a fine strike in the 22nd minute before Ramadhan Niyibizi doubled the lead the 83rd minute. Mukura, on many occasions, tried to use their home advantage to take control of the game but goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila was outstanding for the visitors as he made a couple of fine saves to deny the Black and Yellow side the opener. Mukura suffered an injury blow as Christian Nisingizwe was forced off in the first half to pave way for Fidele Mahoro. The home side looked lively on the wings with Samuel Pimpong and Bruno Etoundi making some decent runs but Thierry Forger’s side stayed focused with fantastic defensive displays. In the second half, Froger dropped Ismail Nshimirimana and brought on Gilbert Mugisha to add more bite to his attack. Both teams created a host of chances but with Mukura pushing for an equalizer but APR remained resilient until Niyibizi scored 83rd minute goal that ended Mukura’s hopes of making the score even. The final seven minutes of the game saw APR defending gallantly as they held on to their 2-0 win to keep their unbeaten run in the league intact. Other games Sunrise FC came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Etincelles at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu. Etincelles went 2-0 up through Jordan Dibumba and Aman Rutayisire before Robert Mukoghotya and Frank Shema completed the comeback to spare a point for the visitors. Elsewhere, Gorilla FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Bugesera FC at Kigali Pele Stadium.
