Sanjiv Bhasin PSU Stocks To Buy: Veteran market expert Sanjiv Bhasin has revealed his favourite stocks from the banking sector. In an exclusive conversation with ET NOW, Bhasin exuded confidence that the country’s financial sector will continue to do well and drive the economy.
Notably, Bhasin’s comment on PSU banks came at a time when the shares of government-owned companies are outperforming.
Among PSU banks, Sanjiv Bhasin said that Bank of Baroda and Punjab National Bank (PNB) shares are still looking strong.
“But like I said the easy part has been played, now you will have to look for the earnings, look for what the provisioning is because cost of money has been tough on the liability side,” the ace investor said.
The veteran market expert recommended DCB Bank shares to the viewers. He said that it is a very small bank but it has potential to outperform.
“Promoters have put their money where their mouth is. They did a preferential at Rs 138 when the stock was at Rs 125,” he said.

“DCB Bank and Dhanlaxmi Bank, are my two favourites. As a disclosure, these are in our portfolio, but along with that like I said Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, PNB are also looking very, very strong and if the Bank Nifty has got to lead, then those will participate,” he said.
While DCB Bank has a market cap of Rs 4,218.81 crore, Dhanlaxmi Bank commands a market of Rs 1,087.95 crore.
According to BSE analytics as on May 6, DCB Bank shares have delivered a positive return of 18 per cent in the last 6 months and 27 per cent in a year. The bank stock has appreciated a solid 72 per cent in the last 2 years.
On the other hand, Dhanlaxmi Bank shares have delivered a positive return of 46 per cent in the last 6 months. The bank stock has delivered a multibagger return of 160 per cent in the last one year and 242 per cent in two years.
