MANILA, Philippines: NorthPort overcame an 18-point deficit behind a spirited second half scoring rampage to turn back hard luck Converge, 112-104 overtime in the main game of the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
NorthPort outlasts Converge in OT thriller
Down by 15 heading to the final frame, the Batang Pier outscored the FiberXers, 31-16 behind Arvin Tolentino’s 13-point explosion to forge the extra five sessions.
Tolentino went on to finish with 31 points, a conference-high, which also equaled his third most in his PBA career.
The former Far Eastern U wingman also added a career-best 11 assists and eight rebounds in a near triple-double effort.
Comebacking Will Navarro, who has fully recovered from a torn ACL injury, registered a double-double of 16 points and 11 boards while Cade Flores chipped in 14 and the same number of rebounds.
Joshua Munzon had 17 points, along with a game-high six steals, six rebounds, and two blocks.
Alec Stockton led Converge with 27 points, while big man Justin Arana had a career-high 25 and 13 rebounds.
The FiberXers though dropped to 0-2.
