San Diego Zoo Safari Park welcomes 250th California condor chick, a big win for the endangered species
This hatch will be our first hatch of the season and it’s going to be the 250th chick to hatch here at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, which is significant for us as an organization and also for the Condor recovery program as well. Whole Hole actually was the first bird to arrive here at the Safari Park back in 1982. So we have a log book here from 1982. We have all of our records here, and you can see right there California Condor Hole Hole arrives at the Safari Park. So he’s been incredibly significant to the Safari Park and to the Condor Recovery program as a whole. He’s made incredible contributions. He’s sired so many chicks who are now flying free in the wild, and he’s going to continue to do so probably for a while.
