Sainz cree que sufrirá en el Dakar: "No hemos hecho un buen trabajo"

Al-Ula-. El primer día de acción para Carlos Sainz en el Rally Dakar 2024 no fue como esperaba el español, puesto que a pesar de que salía confiado y dispuesto a trabajarse desde el inicio el estar en las posiciones de cabeza con una inteligente estrategia, perdió más tiempo y se quedó muy rezagado. Aunque lo cosechado en la Prólogo no sirve para nada en lo referido a la clasificación, servía para definir los lugares de salida en la primera especial de 405 kilómetros hasta Al Hanakiyah.Mira cómo fueron las etapas Prólogo del Rally Dakar 2024:

El madrileño explicó que esperaban dejar un margen para tener beneficios un día después, pero todo se tornó en su contra cuando se perdió navegando por el duro recorrido: “El plan era acabar como el quince, o una cosa así, y la verdad es que no ha salido bien porque nos hemos perdido en un sitio. Entonces, hemos parado antes de la llegada, nos hemos equivocado en el cálculo”.

“Hemos pensado que hemos perdido menos de lo que en realidad habíamos perdido, y al sumarle el tiempo que nos hemos detenido para asegurarnos para salir entre los diez primeros, ha sido demasiado”, aseguró el tres veces ganador del trofeo Touareg a un grupo de medios entre los que se encontraba Motorsport.com. “No hemos hecho un buen trabajo”.

Tener que partir desde el medio del pelotón supone que deberá abrirse hueco entre vehículos, a priori, algo más lentos, y cuando se le preguntó por eso, respondió: “Supone, sobre todo, salir de minuto en minuto, habrá que tener paciencia en los primeros kilómetros y ver lo que vamos consiguiendo, abriendo hueco, sin el polvo. Vamos a sufrir mucho”.

“En el momento en el que te pierdes, no sabes ya cuánto tiempo te has perdido, es una cosa que hemos calculado mal y punto”, continuó sobre el problema que le lastró, aunque Carlos Sainz confía en sus opciones para el resto del Rally Dakar. “Queda mucha carrera, y mañana hay que tener paciencia. Si perdemos ocho o nueve minutos, perdemos ocho o diez minutos, no pasa nada, habrá tiempo de recuperarlo, la confianza sigue, todo va bien, a ver qué tal”.
