Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of February 16

In Ukraine, there have been 95 clashes on the front line in the past day. In Avdiivka, fighting is taking place within the city limits, command is reinforcing units, and maneuvering troops in threatening directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian attacks

During the past day, there have been 95 clashes. Overall, the enemy has inflicted 34 missile strikes and 85 airstrikes and conducted 114 shelling attacks with rocket artillery on our troops’ positions and civilian settlements. Unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population as a result of Russian terrorist attacks. Multi-story and private houses, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure facilities have been destroyed and damaged.

The following areas have been hit by airstrikes: Okhrimivka, Mala Vovcha, Nesterne, Budarky, Chorne, Kolodyazhne, Ivanivka of the Kharkiv region; Stelmakhivka, Novoliubivka, Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region; Terni, Novosadove, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, Klishchiivka, New York, Avdiivka, Novoselivka Persha, Ocheretine, Berdychivka, Orlivka, Lastochkyne, Heorhiivka, Vodiane, Shevchenko, Staramaiorske of the Donetsk region; Novodarivka of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Over 110 settlements of the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions have been under artillery fire.

Frontline situation

In theVolyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains relatively unchanged.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from being redeployed to threatened areas, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupiansk direction, defenders repelled 3 enemy attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region.

In theLyman direction, the defense forces repelled 6 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Terni, Yampolivka, and Vesele in the Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 10 enemy attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, which is trying to surround Avdiivka. Our troops are holding the defense steadily, inflicting significant losses on the invaders. The defense forces repelled 28 enemy attacks in the areas of Avdiivka, Lastochkyne, and another 5 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region over the past day. Under the decision taken, there is a planned reinforcement of units and a maneuver of troops in threatening directions.

In the Maryinka direction, defenders continue to hold back the enemy near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobeda, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where 34 attacks were repelled.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the defense forces repelled 3 enemy attacks south of Prechystivka and in the area of Staramaiorske in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions.

In the Kherson direction, the defense forces continue to expand the bridgehead. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not stop trying to dislodge our units from their positions. Thus, over the past day, the enemy made 3 unsuccessful assaults.

Enemy losses

During the past day, the air forces of the defense forces struck 12 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated. Also, at the end of the past day, one guided aviation missile Kh-59 was destroyed by the forces and means of the air defense of Ukraine.

Missile troops units struck 1 command post, 3 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated, 1 artillery weapon, 1 ammunition depot, and 1 enemy radar station.
