Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 7

In Ukraine, on the front line, 97 military clashes were recorded during the day. The hottest spot was in the Avdiivka direction – our defenders repelled 31 attacks by the Russian army, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian attacks
Overall, the enemy carried out 2 missile strikes and 83 airstrikes and conducted 101 shelling attacks with multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our troops and civilian areas.
Frontline situation
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.
In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent the transfer of our troops to threatened directions, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border.
In the Kupiansk direction, our soldiers repelled 14 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Synkivka, Pishchane, Berestove in the Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled 7 attacks in the areas of Nevske, Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region, and Terni and Yamopilivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 17 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Verkhniokamianske, Viyimka, Rozdolivka, Novyi, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 31 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Novooleksandrivka, Novopokrovske, Sokil, Umanske, Yasnobrodivka, Netailove, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the Defense Forces continued to hold back the enemy in the areas of the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Paraskeviivka, Kostiantynivka, Vodiane, and Urozhaine in the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried 15 times to break through the defense of our troops.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders 6 times in the area of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy is not giving up its intention to dislodge our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the past day, the enemy made 3 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our troops.
Enemy losses
During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck 11 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated. Missile troops units struck 2 enemy artillery units, and the air defense forces of Ukraine destroyed 1 guided aviation missile X-59.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) confirmed the advance of Russian troops to the northwest of Svatove in the Luhansk region; to the southwest of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region; in Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region; and to the north of Oleshky in the Kherson region.
