PNP on helping Senate serve subpoena vs. Quiboloy: ‘We are ready’
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) will assist Senate in serving the subpoena issued by Senate against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) sect leader Apollo Quiboloy.
“If the Senate and the Congress will seek the assistance of the PNP in serving the subpoena, then we are ready to assist them,” PNP Spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing.
Although Senate has its own mechanism in serving its subpoenas, Fajardo said PNP is just waiting for the official request from the legislative chamber.
Her statement comes, after Senator Risa Hontiveros said Senate may seek the backing of PNP, following the advice from Department of Interior and Local Government.
“In the meantime, the PNP will not interfere for now since we have no official request from the Senate,” Fajardo added.
Hontiveros previously said Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality will likely seek the support of police if Quiboloy will ignore the subpoena.
