Lipoma is a benign growth of fat tissue. Lipoma occurs in individuals with genetic predisposition. Multiple lipomas occur with syndromes like dercums disease, Gardner syndrome, hereditary multiple lipomatosis or Madelung disease. Dercums disease causes painful lipomas on arms, legs and trunk. Gardner syndrome causes familial adenomatous polyphonic with lipomas. Madelung disease is seen in men who drink excess alcohol, they have multiple symmetric lipomas.
