No. 1 Michigan (14-0) will face No. 2 Washington (14-0) in the 2024 CFP National Championship game on Jan. 8 in Houston, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
Former college football head coach Rick Neuheisel joined The Dan Patrick Show to share his thoughts on the upcoming national title matchup. Neuheisel predicted Washington to upset Michigan on Jan. 8 in Houston, Texas.
“I’m going to go with Washington at my own peril because I still think they’re the most explosive team, and I think it takes some explosivity to win these games. This rain-making ability that he (Michael Penix Jr.) has with that left arm is going to be tough to handle,” Neuheisel said.
The Wolverines have won the previous two matchups, including the most recent game in 2021. Michigan leads the all-time series 8-5 against Washington, dating back to 1953.
Neither team has won a national championship since the 1990’s. Michigan will be looking to win the first national title since 1997, while Washington has not held the trophy since 1991.
Michigan is currently a 4.5-point favorite over Washington, according to ESPN Bet.
