Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith And Phoebe Waller-Bridge Among Those Joining Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell In Sony’s ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’

EXCLUSIVE: Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and newcomer Lucy Thomas have joined the cast of Imperative Entertainment and 30WEST’s uplifting romance A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which will star Academy Award nominees Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell and will be directed by Kogonada. Sony Pictures will release the film in theaters globally.

The script is written by Seth Reiss. Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Ryan Friedkin will produce the feature, along with Reiss and Youree Henley. Executive producers include Kogonada, Ilene Feldman and Original Films’ Ori Eisen. 30WEST is financing the film.

Plot details are under wraps, but A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is described as an imaginative tale of two strangers and the extraordinary emotional journey that connects them.

Rabe was most recently seen in David E. Kelley’s Love And Death on MAX alongside Elizabeth Olsen, Jesse Plemons and Patrick Fugit and she also appeared in Bill Lawrence’s Shrinking for Apple TV+ opposite Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. Rabe will soon make her directorial debut with Downtown Owl, which she co-directed, produced and stars with her partner Hamish Linklater. The film made its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June and will be released by Sony/Stage 6 on April 23, 2024. Rabe will next be seen in David E. Kelley’s Presumed Innocent for Apple TV+, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga. She also recently wrapped production on Michael Cristofer’s feature Places, Please opposite Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Pierce Brosnan.

This project marks a reunion for Turner-Smith and Kogonada and Farrell who previously worked together on A24’s After Yang. Most recently, Turner-Smith starred in Noah Baumbach’s acclaimed White Noise (Netflix), Murder Mystery 2 (Netflix), and the final season of Sex Education (Netflix). Upcoming projects include starring roles in the Star Wars series The Acolyte (Disney+) and Bad Monkey (Apple TV+). She is also currently in production on Disney Marvel’s Tron: Ares, slated for release in 2025.

Waller-Bridge is a multi-award-winning writer and actor, known for the BBC 3/Amazon series Fleabag, in which she starred in, created and produced. Waller-Bridge won three Primetime Emmy Awards for the second season and won two Golden Globe Awards, two Critics’ Choice Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Award, in addition to a BAFTA Television Award for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Program. Waller-Bridge recently starred opposite Harrison Ford in the fifth installment of Indiana Jones, directed by James Mangold, titled Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Upcoming, Waller-Bridge will be lending her voice to John Krasinski’s live action, animated fantasy comedy film, IF, which will be released by Paramount Pictures on May 17, 2024. She is currently writing and developing a new series for Amazon Prime Video based on the popular video game turned action movie Tomb Raider.
