The Michigan Wolverines are set to enter a new era with head coach Sherrone Moore after winning the national championship last season, but one player won’t be joining the team in 2024.

According to On3, quarterback Jack Grusser has decided to enter the transfer portal.

Grusser joined the Wolverines last season in the 2023 recruiting class, and he did not record any stats in his lone season with the program.

Grusser initially committed to Harvard but flipped to Michigan after attending a camp in Ann Arbor following his high school graduation.

“You know, I did a lot of hard thinking after my season as to what I truly wanted and what I truly wanted to do with my career,” Grusser told The Wolverine when he made the decision to flip his commitment.

“I’m entrusting myself and I believe in myself that I can play with the best.”

He then chose to walk on at Michigan instead of taking scholarship offers from teams like Western Michigan, Army and UConn.

Grusser also had interest from FCS teams like Yale, Columbia and Penn.

Grusser spoke about wanting to play for and learn from Jim Harbaugh at the time of his commitment to Michigan, and with Harbaugh now back in the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers, it seems that it was time for him to evaluate his options.

Grusser may not have had a lot of playing time in his season at Michigan, but he did see a national championship-winning team. He’ll look to take that experience and apply what he learned with the Wolverines at his next destination in college football.
