‘Catch-Up Friday’ materials not for sale — DepEd
MANILA, Philippines: The Department of Education (DepEd) said on Friday that learning materials under the department’s Catch-Up Fridays are not for sale and urged the public to report any such transaction.
The warning comes after (DepEd) received complaints from parents who claimed that some school personnel were selling and requiring learners to buy booklets or workbooks for catch-up Fridays and other school activities.
“The Department reiterates that such acts are strictly prohibited. Catch-Up Fridays and other school activities must not involve out-of-pocket costs. Parents and learners are reminded not to accommodate and patronize such unauthorized transactions,” it said.
DepEd said that it was investigating the matter and that any individual found guilty faces administrative sanctions.
It also encouraged the public to report incidents of selling educational materials directly to the Office of the Secretary at [email protected]
