Asia’s former most eligible bachelor Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei has shared an adorable picture of him and his new wife Anisha Isa Kalebic when they were both children.

The childhood sweethearts publicly tied the knot today and enjoyed a glittering reception on day eight of their 10-day wedding which saw them legally married on Wednesday.

The internet famous Prince Abdul Mateen, 32, shared a selection of photos from the glitzy celebrations with his new wife, 29, while one photo showed the pair as young kids together.

A young prince can be seen sitting next to his future wife who appears to be holding a milk bottle.

His new spouse is the granddaughter of an adviser to Brunei’s leader, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. It is understood she owns a fashion and tourism company, and that the couple have been dating for years.

Other photos in the post, captioned with today’s date, include one of the newly weds smiling in a carriage on the eighth day of celebrations, which has seen Asia’s most eligible bachelor taken off the market.

The Prince revealed his engagement to Anisha in December – an announcement which shocked the many fans of the royal.

Today saw an elaborate affair take place, with the prince dressed for the occasion in a white and gold ceremonial uniform, while his bride wore a long white dress and jewels.

The couple waved at thousands of people who gathered on the streets of Bandar Seri Begawan before arriving at the Istana Nurul Iman Palace in an open-top Rolls Royce.

This was the first time the newlywed couple had been seen together since a legal wedding ceremony took place behind closed doors earlier in the week.

Photos show the couple taking part in a public marriage ceremony beneath an opulent pergola, before heading inside the palace for a formal blessing.

Later today, an estimated 5,000 people are expected to attend a reception at the Istana Nurul Iman Palace.

Guests reportedly include royalty from Saudi Arabia and Jordan, as well as Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo and the leader of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

An Islamic marriage ceremony took place on Wednesday, formalising Prince Abdul Mateen’s marriage to Yang Mulia Anisha Rosnah.

However, this was only attended by male members of the wedding party, including the prince himself and his father, the Sultan of Brunei.

Prince Abdul Mateen is the fourth son, and tenth child, of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, 77, and his former second wife Mariam Abdul Aziz, 67.
