Real-life Najeeb, who inspired Aadujeevitham, says he cried watching Prithviraj survival thriller: ‘Couldn’t bear to watch some scenes’

It was an evening of reel meeting real, as Najeeb Muhammed, the inspiration behind Aadujeevitham, watched the film. In the survival thriller, Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Najeeb, a Malayali immigrant labourer forced into slavery as a goatherd on a secluded farm in Saudi Arabia.

The premiere of the Blessy directed film, which released to rave reviews on Thursday, was attended by Najeeb, who left the screens overwhelmed. According to Times Now, Najeeb hailed Prithviraj and called his performance “tremendous.” Najeeb said he came to watch the film despite being consumed by a family crisis but hoped the movie would win over people.

“In most scenes, I was crying and in some, I couldn’t bear to watch. A lot of people are sending messages saying that they have booked their tickets and will go to watch the movie… My son’s baby died last week. They asked me to be here, so I am, otherwise I would not have since there is a situation back home. I only want this movie to be a success, everyone should go and watch it,” he was quoted as saying.

Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) is an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling Malayalam novel of the same name by Benyamin and follows the life of Najeeb, who, employed as a goatherd against his will, survives in a slave-like situation in the middle of the Saudi desert.

Aadujeevitham has not only opened to acclaim but is also setting benchmarks at the box office, recording one of the biggets openings of all time in Malayalam cinema. With a positive word of mouth backing it, Aadujeevitham is set to record a strong weekend and is likely to emerge as a big money spinner in the long run.
