On Monday, Siân Welby made her debut as This Morning presenter.

And things got off to a roaring start for the Nottingham-born former weathergirl, 37, who has previously hosted showbiz segments on the magazine show.

After her debut alongside Dermot O’Leary, she went on to garner huge praise from viewers despite taking to Instagram prior to the appearance to nervously utter: ‘I don’t know who allowed this. Am I ready? Am I a liability?’

Her This Morning gig comes 18 years into her TV career, having started in adverts and then winning scores of fans with hilarious weather segments in 2015.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN? 

Sian, who comes from Nottingham, began presenting at 19.

She was still working part-time as a shop assistant for New Look when a starring role in an advert for New! Magazine led to her being spotted by former Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond.

She was unveiled as the new face of Channel 5 News’ weather in 2010 and has previously described how she would work as a retail assistant by day, and record online videos in the fitting room after the shop had closed.

Her rise to fame was cemented when she hosted a Star Wars themed report in 2015, which saw her reel off such gems as ‘the Force is strong for northern Scotland’ and ‘tonight the weather strikes back’.

Sian is now best known for her work on Capital Breakfast, where she appears alongside Roman Kemp and Chris Stark every weekday between 6am and 10am

Her This Morning lead hosting debut is not her first taste of fame on the show, as she has also hosted the showbiz segment and given I’m A Celeb news from Sian’s Shack.

Further TV work for the star includes her weather presenting Channel 5 and her appearance on CBBC’s Saturday Mash Up alongside Sonny Jay.

In August last year, Sian revealed she was engaged to her radio producer beau Jake Beckett in a sweet Instagram post. 

The pair looked delighted as they beamed for the camera as Sian wowed in a green bikini while they soaked up the sun during a boat trip on the romantic trip. She: ‘On Tuesday I thought we were just going on a boat trip!!.

‘Genuinely didn’t see this coming. For once I am totally speechless. I didn’t think it mattered until he asked me, and then it meant everything. Love you Jakey x 15.8.23.’

Sian’s fiancé Jake works for Heart Breakfast as a creative producer alongside hosts including Kelly Brook, Rochelle Humes, Vogue Williams and Emma Bunton.

WHAT HAVE THE FANS GOT TO SAY?

In 2016, Sian became a viewer’s favourite and internet sensation with her inventive ways of presenting the weather forecast, after which she revealed she was on a mission to make the weather more exciting with her pun-packed forecasts. 

Speaking at the time about her success, she said: ‘I’m trying to put more personality into the weather and make it less boring. A lot of the time I’m competing with reality stars or even pop stars when it comes to presenting jobs, things have changed a bit.’

She added: ‘Since hosting the weather in my own style I’ve noticed a few channels copy my ideas, not just in the UK but in the US too,’ but insisted she didn’t mind. 

On Monday meanwhile, Sian made her debut hosting the show alongside Dermot this week as ITV continue to search for a replacement for Holly Willoughby.

ITV bosses were said to be impressed with Sian after a number of appearances on the programme and have paired her with Dermot to anchor Monday to Thursday.

One viewer said in reaction to the change up of hosts: ‘Doing a great job @sianwelby… Can’t believe @Sianwelby is hosting @thismorning! After listening to her for years on Capital, always knew she was going to smash it.’

Sources at the network say that Sian, 37, is a ‘rising star’ and want to give her a chance to show if she can present the daytime show.

One told MailOnline: ‘Sian has many years of presenting experience under her belt, she is very much ear marked as being a star of the future.

‘She has done really well already on This Morning so the bosses thought it was time to give her the reins to the whole show rather than just segments.’

They continued: ‘Viewers love a new, fresh face on the show so everyone involved in it is really excited.’
