Qantas to pay $120 million for selling seats on already cancelled flights
Qantas will pay $120 million to settle a dispute against the airline for selling seats to customers for already cancelled flights. This agreement just reached between the national carrier and the A Triple C. The A triple C in Qantas will ask the Federal Court to impose a $100 million penalty for breach of the Australian Consumer Law. Qantas has also committed today to pay in total $20 million to approximately 87,000 customers who were sold tickets on flights that were already cancelled. Qantas has also assured the consumer watchdog that it will not sell tickets to cancelled flights again and that ticket holders will be notified as soon as a service is cancelled.
