Sydney CBD stabbing: Watch the chilling moment police confront a man armed with a knife moments after he allegedly stabbed one of their colleagues in Hyde Park
Dramatic new footage has emerged of police confronting a knife-wielding man moments after he allegedly stabbed an officer in broad daylight.
The male officer was allegedly allegedly stabbed up to three times in the head with a 30cm kitchen knife while patrolling traffic near the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park on Elizabeth Street in Sydney's CBD on Sunday afternoon.
He suffered several fractures to his skull and was taken to St Vincent's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains under police guard. No charges have yet been laid.
Footage filmed by shocked witnesses showed the moment two police officers confronted the alleged attacker in the park.

A male officer was heard yelling at the man to drop the knife.
'Put the knife down. Put it down,' he ordered.
The officer and his female colleague warned the man several times to drop the weapon, as they approached him while maintaining their distance from him.
The officers chased the man before one used a taser to subdue the man.
He was arrested on the corner of Bathurst and Elizabeth streets a short time later.
The man who was wearing a grey sweatshirt and pants was then surrounded by police and paramedics.
Dozens of officers swarmed the busy strip before several roads were closed, while a police operation was conducted.
The roads were later reopened and police have advised that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The injured officer and a female colleague were monitoring traffic in the busy precinct when the alleged attack unfolded, Daily Telegraph reported.
One witness told Daily Mail Australia earlier, the chaotic scene was 'well under control' after plain-clothed police arrived in unmarked cars officers arrived in two riot squad vans.
While the man was arrested by police, the officer who was allegedly attacked was being treated by his colleagues, who wrapped bandages around the wounded areas.
His alleged attacker was still armed when he was arrested.
'He still had the knife in his grip, and was demanding that police shoot him,' NSW Police Detective Superintendent Martin Fileman later told reporters.

Superintendent Fileman said the man did not say anything to the officers when he approached them, before the alleged attack took place.
He said the man is known to police on previous matters.
'There is no history of mental illness on our database,' Supt Fileman added.
NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley was disappointed to hear that a police officer had been injured in the line of duty.
'My thoughts are with the injured officer and the entire police family following this shocking [alleged] attack,' she said.
'Police work tireless and selflessly to serve and protect out community. They should never be met with violence. '
Police (pictured) have advised that there is no ongoing threat to the public and a second crime scene has been set up, at the intersection of Castlereagh and Park Streets
