Two goals and two assists: Kaizer Chiefs target gives comment

Kaizer Chiefs could have a new central midfielder next season. TS Galaxy‘s Thato Khiba, also linked with Orlando Pirates, has commented on rumours pointing him to the Soweto giants.

KAIZER CHIEFS AND ORLANDO PIRATES TARGET THATO KHIBA FROM TS GALAXY

According to the latest reports in local media, the 27-year-old Khiba, from Soweto, Gauteng, has become a subject of interest from Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. The former Amakhosi development player has scored two goals and laid two assists in 11 games from TS Galaxy’s midfield, just under a year since he was signed from the relegated Marumo Gallants.

“To be honest with you, I have seen the news making rounds on social media lately,” Khiba told FARPost.

“But I haven’t really put my mind to it because I have been focused on the league and trying to help my team to achieve greater things. My agent hasn’t really touched on anything about that with me so far, as I’m focused on the job in hand which is giving my all for my current club,” the former Kaizer Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge player concluded.

NEW COACH UPDATES

Staying with Amakhosi, the Soweto giants are openly searching for a new head coach and technical director. Alexandre Gallo has been one of the reported names. The first point is that Gallo is not highly decorated with titles, but his experience in the game is deep. Who is this Brazilian?

As originally reported by KickOff, the 56-year-old had become a hot target to become the next Kaizer Chiefs coach or technical director. He later became one of the candidates in a reported shortlist. The names included:

  • Alexandre Gallo
  • Vanderlei Luxemburgo
  • Pitso Mosimane
  • Benni McCarthy
  • Jose Peseiro.

So why have Kaizer Chiefs considered Gallo? Well, the man is hugely experienced and knowledgeable. In addition to winning the Recopa Sudamericana with Internacional, Gallo has been in charge of 25 teams in and outside of Brazil.

The Kaizer Chiefs target’s longest spell was with Brazilian giants Santos, where he was in charge of 34 games in 2005. Gallo also had repeated tenures with Clube Atlético Mineiro and Clube Náutico. His experience outside Brazil includes coaching Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, Al-Ain FC in the United Arab Emirates and FC Tokyo in Japan. Will Kaizer Chiefs become his first African adventure?
