Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson has hit out at Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neill for the Albanese government’s “weakness on national security” that has occurred on “her watch”.
Albanese govt’s ‘weakness on national security’ occurred on Home Affairs Minister’s ‘watch’
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has launched an attack on the Albanese government for cutting funding to Border Force and leaving Australia vulnerable to asylum seekers.
A single boat carrying 43 asylum seekers from Pakistan, Bangladesh and India arrived in Western Australia on Friday.
“I hope that by the time the budget comes around, the government finally boosts support for maritime surveillance,” Mr Paterson told Sky News Australia.
“In the meantime, we’ve had at least two boats arrive on the Australian mainland, and that’s on her watch – that’s her responsibility.
“It is another example of the Albanese government’s weakness on national security and border security.”
