‘Pretty sad state of affairs’: Jewish professor barred from campus at Columbia University

The Australian Media Writer Sophie Elsworth has called for a “clamping down on” people at universities becoming activists as it is a “pretty sad state of affairs” when people can’t live in harmony.

A Jewish professor at Columbia University in the United States was barred from entering the campus.

The university has cancelled in-person classes due to rising tensions over pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

“This is the problem with universities across the world,” Ms Elsworth told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo.

“We’ve seen many people at these universities become activists, and I think it’s really concerning like you say, that he can’t just go about his business without being attacked by this, and I think it’s a sad state of affairs when our universities can’t all live in harmony and operate in harmony.

“There’s really got to be a clamping down on it, but this is a pretty sad state of affairs, unfortunately.”
