Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume says to preclude nuclear from Australia’s energy mix is simply an act of “ideology”.
Ms Hume’s remarks come as Opposition Leader Peter Dutton is expected to outline the Coalition’s nuclear energy policy before the May budget.
“We are at the advance stage of our cheaper, cleaner energy policy,” she told Sky News Australia.
“We have foreshadowed this for a long time; we’ve been speaking about the importance and the idea of having nuclear in the energy mix … for about 18 months or so.

“And the idea that you would preclude nuclear from your energy mix on your pathway to net zero is simply an act of ideological belligerence.”
