Popeye’s has turned a fan-favourite menu ‘hack’ into an official menu item with the launch of a new offering.

It comes after the fast food chain noticed that as many as 500 fans per week would opt for a second chicken breast when ordering a Chicken Sandwich.

The new Classic Double Stack Sandwich is available from today, with either original or spicy mayo, and will be available at restaurants, drive-thrus and via delivery across the UK from £7.99.

‘Our customers love our chicken, and sometimes they want even more of it when ordering our legendary Chicken Sandwich.

‘We’ve seen the hack, we’ve listened to our fans and we’re pleased to be making the Double Stack official – so more people can easily opt for some extra Shatter Crunch in their Sandwich.’

The brand – which opened its first UK branch in 2021 – is doubling brand the size of its current estate, with the addition of over 30 new UK restaurants, drive-thrus and delivery kitchens.

Through these new openings, Popeyes is aiming to generate 2,000 new jobs in the UK.

The launch of the Double Stack Sandwich by the brand comes after it unveiled a breakfast menu in the UK in February, which contains 22 items.

The star of the show is the flavoursome Big Cajun Breakfast Roll, which is available for £4.99.

The mouth-watering roll contains a sausage patty, a Cajun hash brown, a free range egg and four smoked streaky bacon rashers – layered with gooey American cheese, topped off with a swirl of Cajun ketchup and sandwiched in a toasted brioche bun.

The menu will feature all of the British grab-and-go classics, including a veggie-friendly Egg & Cheese Muffin for £3.50, alongside bacon and sausage variations for the same price.

What’s more, the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Muffins and the Sausage Egg and Cheese Muffins can be doubled up for just 49p extra.

Those keen on a kick of signature New Orleans spice can also opt to customise their meal by swapping the ketchup for Cajun Ketchup and the traditional hash brown for a Cajun Hash Brown at no extra cost.

All rolls and muffins come with a meal deal option as standard, meaning breakfast-lovers can level up their chosen item with the addition of a Hash Brown (traditional or Cajun) as well as a soft drink, tea or coffee for as little as £1 extra.
