West Ham United’s board have stalled contract talks with David Moyes following the Hammers’ 6-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Thousands of fans left the London Stadium at half-time, when Arsenal were already 4-0 up against their London rivals.

But things got worse, as former captain Declan Rice scored a stunning goal and Arsenal completed their rout in east London.

Despite leading West Ham to Europa Conference League success last season and sitting in ninth this term, a significant amount of supporters are against Moyes.

The Scot’s brand of football hasn’t always sat well with supporters and the club haven’t won since a 2-0 win against Arsenal in late December.

Moyes held informal talks with the board after that victory and it was expected that he would sign a new deal.

The former Manchester United boss’ contract expires at the end of the season, and he was expected to sign a deal running until 2026.

But the Telegraph say those talks have now been cooled, with no agreement in place.

West Ham’s board are said to be aware that a number of high-profile managers are keen to take charge at the London Stadium.

‘We’ll get back on it now the transfer window is shut,’ Moyes said when asked about his new deal recently.

‘We’re well down the line and moving on it. We’ll pick that up again in the next few weeks.’
