Polestar 4 Pricing Announced - Here's What You Need to Know

Polestar is making big lineup changes in 2024, with both its Polestar 3 and the smaller Polestar 4 SUVs set to hit showrooms before year’s end. Nearly a year after its initial debut, we now know that the Polestar 4 SUV will carry a base price of $56,300 including destination when it arrives in the United States.

Whereas the Polestar 3 is set to target the Porsche Cayenne and Tesla Model X, the smaller Polestar 4 is aimed squarely at the likes of the Porsche Macan and the Tesla Model Y. The coupe-like SUV is shapely, with prominently flared fenders and an aggressive roofline. In fact, the Polestar 4 completely lacks a rear window, which the automaker claims allows for a much more sporty design overall. Rearward visibility is provided by a rearview mirror camera, while a large panoramic roof extends beyond the passenger compartment to allow in some light. The SUV is unmistakably a Polestar product. That’s a good thing.

The Polestar 4 is based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, which also underpins the Lotus Electre SUV. Every Polestar 4 model will come equipped with a 102-kWh battery pack, which is bolstered by 22-kW AC and 200-kW DC fast-charging capabilities. Customers will have the choice between a single-motor and a dual-motor variant, with the former estimated to provide around 300 miles of range. The single-motor variant is a rear-drive model, providing customers with 272 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque. The Dual Motor variant adds a second motor to the front axle for AWD capabilities, while also upping output figures to 544 hp and 506 lb-ft. That’s enough juice to make the Polestar 4 the most powerful pure electric model yet from the manufacturer.

Polestar says the new SUV with the dual-motor setup is capable of 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The single-motor models take a bit longer to make the sprint, with an expected run of 7.4 seconds. That said, the Dual Motor models provide slightly less range, with Polestar estimating figures closer to 270 miles per charge.

The Dual Motor model can also be specced with the Performance Pack, which brings things like reworked chassis tuning, upgraded Brembo brakes and bespoke discs, a set of upgraded 22-inch wheels, and summer performance tires among other adjustments. There’s no mention of the Polestar 2’s adjustable Öhlins Dual Flow Valve dampers.

The Polestar 4 Single Motor is slated to go on sale in the United States next month and will carry a base price of $56,300 including destination. The more potent Dual Motor model is a bit more expensive, starting at $64,300. Opt for the loaded-up Performance Pack model and that price jumps up to $74,300. The U.S. market vehicles are set to be built at Polestar’s Busan, South Korea facility, which will impact their US tax credit availability. That said, the Polestar 4 is shaping up to be one of the more attractive mid-size EV SUVs.
