PNP’s cyber chief goes to DPRM
MANILA, Philippines — The top cyber cop of the Philippine National Police was designated yesterday as chief of the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM).
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Franciso Marbil appointed Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) director Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia as DPRM head.
Hernia replaced Belli Tamayo, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 on April 18.
Hernia’s appointment took effect yesterday, according to an order from the national police headquarters at Camp Crame.
As DPRM director, Hernia will recommend changes in plans and policies to ensure the efficient procurement and employment of human resources.
Marbil has yet to appoint Hernia’s replacement in the ACG.
As ACG director, Hernia supervised cybercrime investigators in resolving internet-related crimes such as online scams, sextortion and bank fraud.
