Is this a trend we’re seeing right before the 2024 NFL combine?
It’s possible!
We’re starting to see some NFL mock drafts in which LSU QB Jayden Daniels — who won the Heisman Trophy last year — is going ahead of his North Carolina counterpart Drake Maye.
That was already the case in the latest NFL mock draft from our Christian D’Andrea — he had Maye going No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears and Daniels to the New York Giants at No. 6.
But ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. had Maye going behind Daniels. And in the latest mock draft from Sports Illustrated, Luke Easterling had Daniels going No. 2 to the Washington Commanders and Maye going No. 3 to the New England Patriots. Here’s his take:
Sam Howell has had his moments, but nothing that should keep the Commanders from spending this pick on an elite quarterback prospect. Both Daniels and Drake Maye are worthy of this spot, but Daniels has every bit of Maye’s potential as a passer, and brings rare explosiveness and big-play ability as a runner that just can’t be matched.
There you have it! Make sure to check out the latest mock draft from our Christian D’Andrea!
